This little figurine was given to me by my youngest sister shortly after our sister passed away (Jan 2009). It says "Mama says to take care of your sister." She said that it is she and I because our eldest sister is being cared for by our mother in Heaven now.
My sister gave me this photo. It is in honor of my beloved grandmother (my mentor).
Hi, Janet! I think your treasures are beautiful. The photo of your mother in the jar brought tears to my eyes. Tomorrow will be the 13th anniversary of my dear Mother's death. Her premature exit from my life still brings me great heartache. But, I am now able to remember all the good things and have happy memories. Your little jar gives me some ideas for other ways to memorialize my Mother. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wanted to tell you an awesome story about your favorite verse. That verse is my favorite, also. A number of years ago, a dear friend of mine dropped by the house to bring me a birthday gift. We sat in the floor, with our husbands and children so I could open my gift. I happened to have the radio turned on to K-LOVE, the Christian station, and music was playing softly in the background. I slowly tore the paper off my gift and started to lift the lid. Right as I pulled the tissue paper back and saw the beautiful artwork inside, the Newsboys sang out, "Be still and know that I am God." The gift was a beautiful painting of colorful flowers in an old wooden wheelbarrow, and written at the bottom of the painting was the verse, "Be still and know that I am God."
Oh my gosh, you can't imagine the feeling of awe and wonder that filled the room at that moment. Our kids were too small to understand why all the adults in the room were crying. :) It was so unbelievably awesome, you can't imagine. Well, maybe you can if you've experienced these little "God Moments". But, anyway, I have this painting in my house and I can't help smiling a little every time I look at it. It brings me such joy.
